We are big fans of the iPhone and iPod touch iPod touch. We think they are great tools for the medical student both in the classroom and on the wards. Ohio State provides ipods for 3rd all year medical students because they are so useful. And, of course, we sell the ipod touch on our site.

Students and staff with a valid novell password have more options than just "OHSU-guest" wifi that requires agreeing to terms and conditions each time.

The hawkeye network is concealed (by disabling SSID broadcasting if your really want to know) and requires a valid OHSU login. This network makes checking email and getting on the web much easier. It is found nearly everywhere on campus--from main campus, to the student/research buildings, to the south waterfront/CHH.
To join this network, you need to go to the Wifi screen in the settings. When you get there, you won't see hawkeye. Click on "Other":

In the name box, type in "hawkeye":

Next, click on the security tab and select "WPA enterprise":

Enter your regular email user name and password. Within a couple seconds, you should be on the network and a wifi icon will appear in the upper right hand corner of your screen. If that doesn't work, check your password and try again. Note: you must be within the range of the network on campus to access hawkeye.

Setting up your mail is fairly straightforward.
1. In the settings module, select "Mail Contacts and Calendars".
2. Select "Add account..."
3. Select "Microsoft Exchange"
4. Enter in the following information

The iTunes application store is increasing the power of the PDA in the clinic. Theses are a few of the applications that have been recommended by Physicians and students for clinical practice. We believe that an iPod touch should be required for all medical students (not that everyone will buy a required device)
